Living the Wisdom of the Tao - Verse I

1st Verse
The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.

The Tao is both named and nameless.
As nameless it is the origin of all things; as named it is the Mother of 10,000 things.

Ever desireless, one can see the mystery; ever desiring, on sees only the manifestations.
And the mystery itself is the doorway to all understanding.
Wayne Dyer's - Living the Wisdom of the TAO

_______________________________________________________________________________

My Interpretation

The Tao (also known as the Dao (Dow) is Chinese for 'the way.' These are groups of verses written by the Chinese prophet Lao Tzu. These verse, once understood, can change lives and offer a whole new reason behind the thinking of existence.

My interpretation on the first verse is that the Tao is an understanding, it is a way. It is not something to be seen or read. It is a mystical connection to the universe based on the thoughts. That is the understanding, or 'named' version. To live it, is nameless. One begins the manifesting more to their lives when all desires are gone.

Ever desiring, one sees only the manifestations. This means you witness the limits or the Mother of 10,000 things. You will see a finite portion of your goals.

Ever desireless, one can see the mystery. You become the source. Things manifest because of you. You become the origin of all things.

This is what Jesus meant when he asked the rich man to give up all possessions (materialism) and follow him (spirit). Less is more. By not competing with oneself or others, and living in spirit with no attachments is the best way to manifest dreams.

In my life, I decided to let  go wanting to be famous, wanting to be an actor, wanting to be wealthy, and wanting to be worshiped. I am experiencing a sense of freedom from the competition. Instead I focus on being of service, being a teacher, and being a good husband and father to my family.

Daniel’s Animals

Animals are one of God’s greatest gifts to us humans. However, text from various religions does not seem to respect animals. After all, animals were used as sacrifices, beasts of burden, and sadly, deemed as impurities. Jews and Muslims are forbidden to eat pork, but freely kill goats and sheep as burnt offerings or rituals. Hard core Christians vehemently denounce the concept of evolution because the thought of being derived from monkeys is unfathomable and disgusting. Even today, you don’t see or hear of churches offering much support to the Humane Society or the local animal shelters.

However, the Book of Daniel is different. We don’t see any sacrifices, we don’t see animal abuse, and instead, we see animals being used as symbols to represent great empires. This is a wonderful compliment. Let’s look at Daniel’s animals.

The Lion
We grew up thinking the lion, crowned by its mane, as the ‘king of the beasts.’ If you look at the majestic male lion and he carries a fearless pride and dares to challenge any creature who threatens his kingdom. King Nebuchadnezzar was the lion of the mid-east, conquering territories and ruled with greatness. He was a creative genius, who designed a civilization unlike any other at the time. The lion represents greatness, as did King Neb.

The Bear
I would imagine that the bear Daniel saw in his dreams is not your typical cute bear cub as we see in cartoons. The bear in Daniel must have been a ferocious grizzly, ready to devour the enemy. The bear represents the Meso-Persia Empire led by Cyrus.

But can a bear defeat and conquer a lion? In reality, yes it can. However, the Babylon ruled by Nebuchadnezzar can be compared to a lion. Meso-Persia conquered a Babylon ruled by King Belshazzar.

The bear is cunning and despite its size, can sneak up to an enemy quietly without being notice. This is exactly what the Meso-Persia army did. They captured Babylon without a sound.

The Leopard
If you’re going to be fast, you better be sure where you are going. The leopard is the smallest of the big cat family, but don’t mess with them. They can adapt to any environment and with speeds at 58 miles per hour, few prey stand a chance to escape the strength, speed, and agility of the leopard. What better animal to describe Alexander the Great, the emperor of Greece. He foresaw the areas he wished to conquer and did so fast and without mercy. He was a hunter.

The Goat and the Ram
Now the use of these animals confuses me a little. The Goat and the Ram both represent two conflicting armies. The ram with the two horns stands for the kingdom of Media and Persia. In the Book of Daniel, it is written, ‘I watched the ram as it charged toward the west and the north and the south. No animal stood against it.’

But then the Ram confronted the Goat when Daniel wrote, “Suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes emerged from the west and crossed the earth without touching the ground. It charged toward the two-horned ram in great rage. I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking the ram and shattering its two horns.”

Wow!

In real life no goat can defeat a ram. A ram is tough, head strong, and a fighter. A goat is an animal we see at petting zoos. I think what Daniel meant is that Medo-Peria is actually two civilizations under one kingdom, with the Persia side being the strongest. The goat had one horn (which is a disparity since goats usually have two horns), represents one kingdom.

The Terrible Beast
This represented by Rome, the most powerful civilization in world history. So terrible that it could gobble up any animal that stood its way. Because of this, it cannot be represented by an animal.

In Conclusion
Finally a Book that honors animals. I only wish that there are kingdoms out there that can be represented by more gentle animals like the dog, a horse, or even a kangaroo. The USA is represented by the eagle, and rightly so. Russia is represented by the bear. I suppose we will know world peace once we all become lambs under the absolute kingdom that is about to come.

Working Your Best Despite Bad Circumstances

I once worked on a website (www.DrThind.com) meant to educate about an Indian man's struggle to be an US citizen in the 1920s. While fascinated with this man's life, I was not at all thrilled working for the actual person who hired me. Throughout my efforts I experienced verbal abuse, lawsuit threats, and just overall disrespect from this, what I consider, miserable person.

Finally my patience ran thin so I decided to let him go as client. Despite the difficulty working for him, I've been told that the website is one of beauty. I often wonder how I managed to maintain my creativity despite working for a man who could not control his temper.

While working on the site, I decided to create a new attitude behind the purpose of this project. I would not just work for his money or the Indian man's legacy, but rather listen to the whispers of what God was telling me and why I was introduced to this project. Perhaps it was to make me aware of my own temperament. Perhaps it was to reach out to God and ask that he work with me on this project. What I found was that when working 'with' and 'for' God, things became much easier.

When finished, the website became a portfolio piece in my showcase of websites (www.crystaldi.com). I now have a policy that would result in the project being dropped on-the-spot for similar behavior. Fortunately, I have been blessed by wonderful clients who I had the honor of serving over the years.

My experience is not unusual. How often have we heard of stories of undesirable work environments and experiences. Then I read 'The Book of Daniel."

Most stories I've heard (including my own) pale in comparison to that of the Daniel's story. The Babylonians killed his parents and sacked his hometown of Judah. As a boy, Daniel was captured against his will, taken to a foreign land where he was stripped of his Hebrew beliefs and forced to serve an oppressive regime for the rest of his life. Yet despite it all, he managed to rise up from captive to one of the high officials of Babylon. After reading the Book of Daniel over and over again, I've come to the conclusion that this man of God worked to serve God.

Then it hit me...Work is a form of Worship.

Regardless of who your boss is or not liking the people you work with, work is worship. You are serving God before you are working for your employer, good or bad.

I heard a wise man say that it is better to work licking stamps if it connects you with God than to be a rich mortgage banker prime lending to under-qualified home seekers, knowing a foreclosure is imminent. In the case of the latter, work can also be sin.

Daniel knew that his work would benefit the citizens of Babylon, which included many of his fellow captured Judahans. He endured life-threatening situations like the lion's dens yet somehow held on to his religious convictions. Perhaps he served so well because he felt the pleasure of God.

Do good work and you will reap the rewards. God is in full control. Have the faith and watch the results. He may (1) remove you from the job to a better job (2) have your undesirable workers removed (3) or simply give you the strength to endure and eventually win. Under God, situations get's better.

Daniel never forgot this faith. His situation solidified his oneness with God. He always knew that God would be on his side. As a result, his story has been told for many generations.

The Writing on the Walls of Our Own Lives

King Belshazzar sat through his banquet, enjoying food and wine at the expense of sacred items stolen from a previous invasion of the Temple of Jerusalem. He also had worshiped the gods of materialism, lust, and gluttony. That night Belshazzar experienced the ‘writing on the wall’ was the night he witness the crumbling of his kingdom.

Daniel 5:5 it states “Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lamp stand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees were knocking.”

Belshazzar was not only mortified but was killed that evening. What the king experienced that fateful night was merely the ‘physical’ writing on the wall. Oppressive leaders in the Bible share the commonality of ignoring multiple signs and warnings, only to harden their hearts to the point where they paid the ultimate price?

Belshazzar’s arrogance and naivety led to this downfall. There were fair warnings by insiders of the invasions happening around the Middle East. Rather than focusing on defending this kingdom, Belshazzar took advantage of his position for self-absorbance and abuse of power.

In today’s world, we witness the same. People ignore their own ‘writings on the wall’. Instead they drive forward, thinking the signs and warnings are someone else's fate.

  • Smokers continue to contaminate their lungs despite decades of research linking smoking to cancer
  • People having recreational sex despite knowing the risk of sexually transmitted disease.
  • Young ladies desiring men with a history of abuse or infidelity.
  • We vote for those in office who are known con artists or sinful people.
  • We fudge numbers and lie on job applications knowing it can lead to termination.
The ‘writings on the wall’ exist for us all. Ignorance only leads to a fall. Why do we ignore? The ego is strong. Desire is strong. These are agents of the devil. We worship the idols of food, alcohol, or someone validation. We fight for our belonging to earthly pleasures over spiritual enlightenment.

Belshazzar may have received many warnings during this reign, not just that that fateful evening. He may have flaunted being worthy to use sacred utensils from the Holy Temple of God. Today, we may think we are worthy to abuse our own sacred utensils such as the earth, our families and friends, our bodies, our minds, and especially our spirit. Pop culture is riddled with reality TV shows, to sports, music, and political ideologies. It is to us as the banquet was to Belshazzar, making us feel more worthy than we are and distracting us from God.

Those who believe know that living a God-like existence reaps rewards not to be received in heaven, but rather, immediate gratification. Eat healthy, you live long. Avoid smoking, you live long. Do not identify yourself with celebrities or political parties; you will live a peaceful existence. The writings are all on the wall. They are also in the Bible.

May you live long peaceful life. Shalom.

Michael Jackson: The Lost Childhood

Now deceased, Michael Jackson is more powerful than ever before. This story has made frontline news in all the world’s paper for 3 days straight now. No other news is seemingly is so captivating; not Jon and Kate, not US economic woes, not even the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Michaels’ death has suddenly revived his career. Yes, revived. In all likelihood, he may generate more money then he ever did alive. Already record stores, iTunes, and Amazon have experience enormous demands. Elvis, John Lennon, Jim Morrison all experienced the same.

Michael’s legacy will most likely focus on the days he produced Off the Wall and Thriller. Those two albums alone produced more hits then most musicians have in their entire careers. His music videos ‘Beat It’, ‘Billie Jean’, and ‘Thriller’ transformed music videos from a mere promotional tool to an art. It helped ignite MTV. His career in a nutshell: 2 time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a solo artist and member of the Jackson 5), 13 Grammy Awards, 13 Number one singles, over 750 million albums sold worldwide, and billions of dollars generated.

--The Lost Childhood--
As the world learned, however, was that Michael Jackson had a dark side that involved child abuse, neglect, and accusations of child molestation. You find can an entire populace of people with similar history in prison.

It wasn’t enough that Michael suffered a lost childhood. He was never allowed to be own person. His spirit was never free. Instead, his life became a tool for others to make profit of his enormous talent. His father, Joe Jackson, was not a successful man on his own by any means. He was a steel worker during the day, hardly carrying enough change in his pockets for lunch.

To his credit, however, Joe Jackson was a driven man. He played in a band and was a talented guitarist. Perhaps he had dreams playing for record label, but fell victim to the circumstances in his day: poverty, racism, and missed opportunities.

To some, growing old and not fulfilling your lifelong dream is intolerable. Joe Jackson may not have wanted any of that. So, his kids became the pawns for his success. According the Michael and his sister LaToya, Joe Jackson was a tyrant with an iron fist. He ran the household with fear, intimidation, and complete lack of concern about his children’s feelings.

In addition, Michael had to endure the challenge of being in a one-income household with ten kids. Normally with large families siblings would play and fight with each other. In the Jackson household, it seemed that band practice took precedence to growing up and living a normal childhood.

Despite the hardship, Michael was born to be an entertainer. For years the Jackson 5 played in local venues and won numerous competitions. It was not till Michael joined the band did MoTown Records take notice.

--The Baton is Passed--
Smokey Robinson said, “Michael had the talent of someone years his age.” Which Michael at the realm, the Jackson 5 attracted television and record deals. Like many child stars, however, Michael was forced into world that God never meant for children. Michael never experienced a childhood. He was busy making money for his family and for the record labels. He was a moneymaker. Despite the claims from those who say they loved him and showed genuine concern, he was a music moneymaking machine. The self-worth was solely based on that. If he stopped producing, they stopped caring.

In 1979, the record ‘Off the Wall’ was a solo act without Michael’s tyrant father or his brothers. Quincy Jones was the man behind the project. Together, Jones and the 20 year old Jackson produced the first ever album to generate US top 10 hits including blockbuster songs like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You".

The man was only 20!

At 20 years old most people are in college, partying, studying for college exams, or thinking of their careers. Michael remained what he was since he was 10, a money making machine. Not a man with feelings, not a man with a spirit, and a human being. He was money making machine, the darling of the media, a man with billions of dollars, yet no life.

At 24, Thriller was released. It’s the greatest album I have ever purchased. For Michael, the arrow had reached its peak and is now failing.

-- Energy Released – His deal with Children --
It’s little wonder why Michael had that special relationship with children. He wanted to be around them, especially young male boys. Why? Because he was never allowed to experience having a ‘best friend’, or play outside with friends after school, like normal kids do.

It’s just human nature to make up for lost experience. It not unusual for teenage moms, as soon as their children are grown, to dress up in sexy garbs, hang out at bars, and date younger men.

Michael’s inner demons were not demons. They were yearnings. Yearnings to have the God given right to a normal childhood.

Did he molest young boys? I’m not sure, but then I wonder why an innocent man would pay the family of one of his so-called victims $20 million to keep their mouth shut. I don’t know the details, nor will I speculate.

--Career Revived in Death--
In years to come there will be speculations if Michael did actually die? The same theories floated around about Elvis and Jim Morrison. Elvis and Jim Morrison made more money in death then they did alive.

Will that happen to Michael? Most likely yes.

The greatest gifts Michael left us his music. He is the ‘King of Pop’ and the greatest entertainer since Elvis and the Beatles. More important, for those who wish to live their successful through their children, look at Michael’s life and where it went.

He became a lost soul with billions of dollars. As it was mentioned in the Bible,
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matthew 16:26

Go for a Twin Flame, Not a Soul Mate

By Jim Hague

It is long believed in western culture that concept behind Soul Mates pertain to lovers only. But the dictionary defines soul mates as two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity. This does not necessarily simply lovers.

Us spiritual people define soul mates are two souls, created to support each other as they journey different worlds throughout the many incarnations (or lifetimes). Soul mates account for one another, making sure that one grows in the dimensions of health, psychological, material, and most important, spiritual.

But are soul mates limited to just two people? The answer is no. Soul mates can involve numerous groups of people. Soul mates are people, usually friends, teachers, mentors, or other people who support each other to achieve life's goal or helped in case of a crisis. Anyone group of individuals, two or more, connected with a purpose of growth and gratitude, can be regarded as soul mates.

The twin flame, however, is the significant other half…the one! Two twin flames are likened to a physical duality that is needed for completion. After all, you cannot have north without south, left without right, or ying without yang. Your twin flame is your other half that makes you complete. There is unconditional love between the two.

While the personalities maybe different, a matrix of energy meshes. You just know it and feel it. The relationship grows very fast and deep, to the point where you will almost always know what the other person is thinking and feeling. Call it telepathy, but indirect psychic communication occurs almost daily between flames.

How will you know if someone you run into is 'the one?'

There is no answer to this. You will just know. Read the following:

* You will feel a Love like no other you have ever experienced.
* There is a familiarity and a knowingness that is absolutely undeniable.
* You feel complete. Your heart is certain that this is your other half.
* When you are together, you experience that "in Love" feeling all the time, and waves of ecstasy and bliss pour through you.
* Your heart pours Love to your Twin, and giving to your Twin becomes the most important thing in your life.

There can be many soul mates. There can only be one divine counterpart in the physical or soul, that is the twin flame.

* Soul mates know each other form another life.
Twin flames know each other from the beginning of time.
* Soul mates are there for your personal growth.
Twin flames are to complete you.
* With soul mates, you feel that you have met the person before.
With twin flames, you feel you know each other inside out and the discovery can go on forever.
* With soul mates, you have lessons together.
With twin flames, you feel complete yet have some lessons together.
* With souls mates, you will sometimes feel you have met other soul mates.
With twin flames, you have never felt this deep before from a soul mate.
* With soul mates, some lessons are challenging and you may need to resolve something.
With twin flames, you both go beyond the challenges together ... the connection is unfathomable.

How does one find his/her twin flame?

To attract a twin flame is best done through prayer, meditation, and openness. Open all channels. Do not discriminate! Don't limit yourself to being with just blondes, athletic, a particular race or religion. Being equally yoked is a concept you and your twin flame grow into, not born into.

When you meditate, feel your twin flame by your side. Be as if your twin flame is with you all the time, which he/she is! Your twin flame may not be in physical form, but rather, exist as an energy field. Once that energy field connects with you, your energies mesh. It is then you ask for your twin flame to enter into your life. Before long, the twin flame will appear in physical human form.

Sri Yogananda of the Self Realization Fellowship offered a prayer. "God, bless so that I may find my life partner according to your laws of perfect soul union." Keep saying that prayer with complete faith and watch what happens.

May your flame find you. May you find your flame. May both of you become one.

The Cycle of Empires

In the Book of Daniel the different sections of King Nebuchadnezzar’s statue symbolized some of the mightiest empires in world history such as Babylon, Greece, Rome, and Medo-Persia. These empires reached their peak with: (1) a powerful army (2) brilliant military strategists and (3) the ability to conquer nations.

The rise and fall of empires were not limited to the ones mentioned in the Book of Daniel. Many empires reined the world only to experience the harsh reality of their power and influence fading in time. As an empire crumbled, the world adjusted as another empire took its place, influencing world economies and foreign policies. The Cycle of Empires continues to this very day until the ‘hand of God’ crushes all empires and the one ‘final kingdom’ rules the earth forever and ever. This is symbolized by the demolition of King Neb’s statue by a rock not created by human hands.

Until the final kingdom, empires come and go like the seasons. In modern times, the Cycle’s influence was inflicted upon the Ottoman Empire, Great Britain, Germany, and Japan. Even within nations not considered world powers, their oppressive leaders such as Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot experienced the wrath of the Cycle.

The commonality empires (or super power nations) share is that while their military strength may have conquered other nations, the military never saved the empire when the infrastructure falters. Rome, in my opinion is history’s greatest empire. They were the true founders of democracy which may have attributed to their rule lasting five centuries. Carelessness, slothfulness, combined with greed, sin, and a self-serving ruling party resulted in its demise. Same story held true for Babylon ruler Belshazzar, who choose to ignore warnings of invading nations, failing to see the ‘writing on the wall’, resulting in not only his demise but the end of Babylon.

The demise in infrastructure results in the erosion of the middle class. In addition to greed, lust, and lack of worshipping God are very evident in the past 20 years.

No nation is immune to the Cycle as prophesied in the Book of Daniel. In Daniel 2:34, ‘…a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.” It then goes on to say, “But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.” That rock is Jesus. His kingdom will rule the whole earth.

However, while nations falter and empires crumble, God still holds the individual responsible for their actions. Regardless if a nation thrives, the individual will falter if it lives in sin. If a nation falters, the individual can still thrive if allowing God into the heart.
